Course Description:

The First Aid at Work course is ideally suited for anybody who is looking to become a First Aider in a higher-risk workplace environment.

Candidates successfully completing this course will be entitled to act as a First Aider in the workplace.

The Level 3 First

Aid at Work course will equip personnel with the skills to apply First Aid to an extensive range of specific injuries and illnesses. This course complies with the Health and Safety (First-Aid) regulations 1981.

Course Description


Candidates successfully completing this course will be entitled to act as a First Aider in a higher-risk working environment. The First Aid at Work course will equip the First Aider to apply First Aid to an extensive range of specific injuries and illnesses. This course complies with the Health and Safety (First-Aid) regulations 1981. Course Structure: Unit 1: Emergency First aid in the Workplace
Unit 2: Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in the Workplace In accordance with Appendix 5 & 6 of the H&S (First-Aid) Regulations 1981. Unit 1 Includes:

  • Roles and responsibilities of a First Aider
  • Cross infection
  • Recording incidents & actions
  • Use of available equipment
  • Assessing an incident
  • Unconscious casualties (including seizure)
  • Cardio pulmonary resuscitation
  • Safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator
  • Choking
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Shock
  • Minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters)
Unit 2 Includes:
  • Secondary survey
  • Injuries to bones, joints and muscles (including spinal injuries)
  • Suspected head and spinal injuries
  • Chest injuries
  • Burns and scalds
  • Eye injuries
  • Sudden poisoning
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Major illnesses (heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma & diabetes)
  • Serious bleeding including
  • Embedded objects
  • Sucking chest wound
  • Amputation
Certification Successful candidates will be awarded the Level 3 First Aid at Work certificate, valid for 3 years. The course is a regulated Ofqual accredited course certified by Qualsafe. Although this qualifictaion is valid for 3 years it is strongly recommended by the HSE that refresher training is completed each year between the three years. Certification & Accreditation


Successful candidates will be awarded the Level 3 First Aid at Work certificate, valid for 3 years. The course is a regulated Ofqual accredited course certified by Qualsafe. Your First Aid certificate will expire three years after the date of completion. However, for this course, annual refresher training is strongly recommended by the HSE each year between the three years.
